Caroline Nash, PhD, GIT – Senior Geomorphologist

Caroline’s career in geomorphology and hydrology has focused on watershed restoration and applied river science throughout the western United States. She specializes in integrating scientific analysis with community engagement to develop restoration strategies and analytical frameworks that are scientifically sound and locally supported. Her work has included valley floor restoration, watershed-scale assessments, and the creation of monitoring frameworks that translate science into practice.

Caroline collaborates with private landowners, nonprofits, and agencies to design, permit, and implement projects that enhance watershed health. She prioritizes practical decision-making, ensuring stakeholders align on clear goals that drive project success. With experience managing multi-partner restoration efforts across public and private lands, she balances technical analysis with an understanding of policy and funding mechanisms to help clients navigate complex restoration planning and build durable solutions.

In addition to her role at Rio ASE, Caroline maintains an advisory relationship as a Principal (Inactive) at CK Blueshift, LLC, supporting select initiatives in restoration investment and policy.

Outside of work, she enjoys getting outside with her family, tinkering with her bikes, knitting, and karaoke.
