Rio ASE is providing project management for a large team of interdisciplinary partners and providing geomorphic oversight and quality control on a multi-watershed-scale assessment effort in the Upper Salmon River basin. The project includes the integration of high-level geomorphic and biologic assessments to identify and prioritize Chinook salmon and steelhead habitat recovery actions for the entire Upper Salmon River basin (5,217 square miles) including several distinct watersheds. Working with partners including the US Bureau of Reclamation, Rio developed a detailed Project Management Plan for the multi-year effort including a project schedule, scope management, communications, data management, change management, and quality control plans. As part of the communications plan, and to facilitate the large effort among many partners and stakeholders, several teams were established including a project management team Lead by Rio ASE. Rio also leads the technical science team to coordinate the interdisciplinary assessment efforts. To facilitate external outreach and coordination with local partners and the public, Rio meets with stakeholders and gives technical presentations to partner groups. When complete, the assessment effort will identify and prioritize the most appropriate treatment options for each watershed to be used by local sponsors to prioritize watershed rehabilitation design and implementation efforts.
